What Is This?

ChatWithExcel is a free tool that lets you chat with Excel and CSV files using AI, entirely in your browser. Your file never leaves your device. No sign-up, no upload, no server-side processing.

Why We Built It

Unlike server-upload converters, your spreadsheet data stays on your device. Modern browsers can run AI models locally using WebGPU, and SheetJS can parse Excel files without a server. No storage anywhere.

How It Works

• File parsing: SheetJS reads Excel/CSV files in the browser
• Text extraction: Cell data is extracted and chunked for RAG
• AI generation: Llama 3 via WebGPU, or your own API key
• Charts: Chart.js renders visualizations in the browser

AI Modes

• Browser AI (WebGPU): File never leaves your device. Llama 3.1 8B / 3.2 3B / 1B.
• Your API Key: Only extracted text sent to the API you chose, directly from your browser.
• Text Search: Keyword search across your spreadsheet. Works everywhere.
